Classic Holiday Recipes to make with CBD

If you are a foodie like me, when you think about the Holidays, the first thing that pops into your head is the family meals.  We spend so much time together shopping for ingredients, prepping the meal area, cooking together, and finally, gathering for the feast. These family meals are a huge part of the occasion and often what we look forward to most. That's why we decided to add CBD oil to the fun!
CBD has a wide range of benefits and is also known to make you feel calm and relaxed. Many people use it for help with pain, inflammation, anxiety, and depression. It is non-intoxicating (so it's not like I'm feeding everyone pot brownies- which would make a fun blog but would be so unethical). Pure CBD has no THC what so ever, so it won't cause my relatives to lose their jobs for testing positive for THC. It is something that builds up into the system so for some they may not feel much of a difference the first use. It is more about opening up the conversations, educating others, and ending the controversy associated with cannabis. Many people still have misconstrued opinions about CBD. What is a better way to normalize CBD than to make it into your families favorite holiday recipe? In my family, I believe we all could benefit from a little CBD oil!

Hemp-Nogg

Turn on a Hallmark movie and grab your favorite blanky. This delicious hemp infused eggnog is so easy to make and makes a perfect non-intoxicating nightcap.
Ingredients:
4 cups of your favorite eggnog
1/2 gram of concentrate, such as Canvas Organics in-house Isolate ( $29.99 a gram) or CBDistillerys Broad Spectrum Wax ($50.00)

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine eggnog and concentrate.
  2. Turn on heat to medium-low. Stir in concentrate until completely dissolved. Do not boil!
  3. Allow to cool and transfer to an airtight jar or bottle. Keep refrigerated. Share with friends and family for the Holidays!

Herbatious Mashed Potatoes

CBD infused comfort food just makes sense. Gather the family and relax after a long day with a delicious meal with a side of Hempy Herby Mashed Potatoes.

Ingredients
4 Large potatoes, rinsed, and cut into large chunks
6 cups water
¼-½ cup milk
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil 1 gram CBD concentrate
½ large yellow onion diced
3 cloves garlic diced
5 strips of bacon
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup diced chives
1 tsp Dried Parsley
1 tsp Rosemary
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Place cubed potatoes in large saucepan and cover with water, about 6 cups. Heat over medium-high and bring to a boil.
  2. Meanwhile, cook bacon until crispy. Remove from pan. Blot grease from bacon strips, and crumble. Set aside.
  3. In the pan that the bacon was cooked in, sauteed onions and garlic for about 5 minutes or until tender. Set aside.
  4. Test potatoes by poking with a fork, if the potatoes are still firm, cook longer, if they are tender they will easily come apart by the fork. Once the potatoes are tender, after about 15 minutes of boiling, remove from heat. Drain most water leaving about 2-3 tbs in the pot.
  5. Add butter and mash. Add milk a tablespoon at a time to avoid making them runny. Once most large lumps are gone, use an electric hand mixer on low, and whip until smooth. Set aside.
  6. In a microwave-safe small bowl heat up olive oil for 15 to 30 seconds in the microwave- just till warm. Add in CBD Concentrate. Once fully dissolved stir into potatoes.
  7. Next, add the garlic, onions, bacon, cheese, and chives. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Hemp Hot Toddy

This spicy adult beverage is absolutely crave-worthy on those cold winter nights. This hot beverage has the coziness of a cup of tea with an added kick of whiskey and Colorado Hemp Honey!

Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon Colorado Hemp Honey ( I used Ginger Soothee)

1 ½ shot of Whisky

¼ cup boiling water

1 lemon slice

1 cinnamon stick
Dash of nutmeg

Directions:
  1. In a heat-safe mug combine all ingredients. Serve immediately.

I hope your family enjoys these recipes as much as mine does. Since I've started working in the cannabis industry I have converted many of my family members to hemp derived remedies (including my mom, and 80-something-year-old grandma.) Hearing them say they're not in as much pain anymore and how much CBD has helps them brings us all a little extra happiness during the holidays.
